Prevalence of Myopia and Associated Factors among Elementary School Children in Debre Berhan Town, Ethiopia

Myopia, also known as near-sightedness/short sightedness, is a common type of refractive error. Myopia is already one of the major causes of vision impairment and blindness and is projected to affect almost half of the world’s population within 40 years. It affects performance in school and has a negative influence on the future life of the child. This warrants early detection and treatment of refractive errors to prevent permanent disability.
